The event has been organized by the International Association of Breath Research (IABR, founded in 2005) and will be part of the biennial series of the international conferences on breath research, in which multidisciplinary teams composed of scholars, doctors and scientists, sector companies and laboratories will take part.
The aim is to offer to the researchers opportunities to meet colleagues coming from all over the world, and discuss about important subjects associated with the chemical analysis of breath, the latest findings in the field of research, the instrumentation with sensors and biomarkers identification strategies. The conference approach will have a transdisciplinary nature and, not for nothing, the subject of the Summit of 2018 will be the Bridging Breath Research, in order to create actual bridges between disciplines and solid and durable relations between doctors, physicians, biologists, chemicals, engineers and computer scientists, so that they could team up and solve each possible kind of problem found in research areas.
The research in the field of breath analysis is in constantly ad rapidly growing, thanks to sensors technological progress, combined with the develop of sophisticated data analysis approaches and especially thanks to the attractiveness of the non-invasive methods in medical field.
In the past, in the events organized by IABR were presented important researches such as studies in the field of: in vitro testing; clinical, pharmacological and breath analysis applications; develop of algorithmic data interpreting methods; presentation of new technologies of VOC, condensation and aerosol breath sampling.
During this year’s Breath Summit will be discussed scientific researches focusing on: breath testing in relation to disease diagnosis, health assessment and medical monitoring; patient phenotyping through complete breath analysis, metabolomics and profiling approaches; endogenous formation of volatile transformation products through the study of in vitro cellular and bacterial systems; quality assurance and control relating to all aspects of breath research, from the initial study project, data sampling, analysis and processing, statistic interpretation; the latest developments in instrumentation based on mass spectrometry, as well as sensor technologies and their applications.
