New satisfaction for the great family of Inside the Breath.
After winning the Puglia Premia Salute (Health Award) challenge, we gained further important national recognition: the ambitious project of diagnosing oncologic pathologies through the exhaled breath was among the leading players at the Health Innovation Forum, and obtained a special mention in the InnovaS@lute 2017 Award.
Now in its third year, the Health Innovation Forum was held in Rome on 20 and 21 September 2017. Designed by ARIS (Information and Society Research Agency) and Netics, and promoted by FPA, the Forum is a unique reference point at national level, for all those who aim to innovate in health, make it more sustainable and improve access to patient care.
The prize-giving ceremony of the InnovaS@lute Award closed the event, illuminating all the “new” aspects of Italian health care. A panel composed of experts from health and academia reviewed the proposals presented to them, assessing the role of “disruptive innovation”. From the 112 participating projects, there were six finalists in the categories: “Communication with citizens and users”; “Social-health integration; proximity medicine and care for the elderly, chronic and weak”; “Health and wellbeing education”; “Administrative/management context”; “Communication infrastructure and collaboration between structures, professionals and administrators”; and “Innovation in the clinical field”.
Inside the Breath participated in the latter category, made it into the final shortlist and was given a special mention to acknowledge its merit.
Carlo Mochi Sismondi, President of FPA, commented: “The InnovaS@lute Award has shown how innovation is there, but is often hidden: to bring it into the open, it is enough to give voice to public and private actors engaged in the territories and to offer visibility to those who daily confront problems and search for solutions. The greatest number of projects were submitted by public and private healthcare facilities, but the participation of start-ups and small and medium-sized enterprises was also great.”
This experience, in Rome, has made us proud and is only one of the many incentives to continue that we have already received from the Inside the Breath clusterfor tomorrow’s diagnostics.
